More than half of a great year has passed by but there are still exciting times ahead of us! Read on to a get short round up of YOOtheme's work and what's happening next at YOOtheme.
Two weeks ago we finally released the first Alpha version of Pagekit to the public. It is such a big relief after more than 2 years of hard work. Make sure to follow the latest Pagekit news on the offical blog. Just head over and check out the first post about the Pagekit launch. But besides Pagekit, there is more... We are really excited about our other product lines. A lot of major updates are coming.
What do you do, if you want to clear your head and do some profound work? You pack your computers, Xbox and some warm socks and travel to a remote island in the Baltic Sea for a couple of hack days. Well, at least that's what we did last month. In the midst of snowy nothingness we put up our gear and got shoulder-deep in working on some pretty great stuff for you.
So you may be wondering what we got up our sleeves this year? Here we go... Its been two years since we released the Warp 6 framework and we are happy to announce that Warp 7 is already in the making and scheduled to be released this summer. We are putting a lot of effort into it to make it the next state of the art theme framework. We are planning a new major Widgetkit 2 release as well as new ZOO releases later this year. All built on the latest web technologies including some great improvements. We are also working on some new projects, which we are really excited about. So stay tuned!
We will have more news and details soon, so keep checking back!
Widgetkit 1.4 comes with a bunch of bug fixes and one big change in our Twitter widget: We're now supporting Twitter OAuth.
What's Twitter OAuth?
In the past every developer was able to access the public Twitter API without authentication. But as Twitter announced, the API is going to change within the next couple of weeks. Due to the upcoming API change, every application will now need an OAuth key for each request. To meet the upcoming shutdown of the old API, we have already updated our Twitter widget.
Two weeks ago, on 27 September 2012, Joomla 3.0 was released. It's the next major version of the Joomla CMS and comes with some great features we are really excited about. Finally Joomla ships with jQuery included, now that's pure awesomeness! We've been following the development closely and in the last couple of weeks worked on the integration of our themes and extensions.
Today we are glad to announce that Warp 6, Widgetkit and ZOO are Joomla 3.0 ready! Thanks to our Warp framework this means our 19 latest themes are immediately available for Joomla 3.0. The same goes for our popular Joomla extensions: Widgetkit 1.3 and ZOO 3.0! The Warp UI fits nicely in the Joomla administration. The release of Joomla 3.0 has also officially ended the Joomla 1.5 support. So we've dropped support for Joomla 1.5 in the latest Widgetkit 1.3 and ZOO 3.0 accordingly.
Today we have a brand new Widgetkit 1.2 release prepared for you! It's a short follow up to our Widgetkit 1.1 release 3 weeks ago. The new responsiveness of all widgets marked a major step in the evolvement of Widgetkit, and we thought it was about time for some icing on the cake. So, besides the regular bugfixes, we have put some work into the improvement of our Gallery widget.
Tada! Today we are really proud to announce the first major Widgetkit release since we introduced it back in January. Widgetkit has improved constantly over the last 6 months, but lately we have worked hard on a really important new feature: A completely responsive design for Widgetkit. All widgets including all the fancy effects are now adapting perfectly for all different device resolutions. This goes along with our upcoming Warp 6.2 release which also features a completely responsive design. But besides bugfixes we added nice little features to Widgetkit 1.1.
Today we are very proud to release Widgetkit 1.0, finally! We kept Widgetkit in BETA status for a long time now. This was because we wanted to wait till our website relaunch to provide a great Widgetkit product site with examples and a comprehensive documentation.
And here we go! Visit the Widgetkit product pages:
Widgetkit has been around for 6 weeks now and during this time a lot has happened. First we like to thank everyone who tried the Widgetkit betas and has send us feedback. We really appreciate it! Until today we have released 5 betas including bugfixes, optimizations and new widgets. Here are some notable features we've added so far: translations, RTL support, editor support for Joomla's TinyMCE and JCE, caption support for slideshows and HTML5 video playback in the lightbox. With the upcoming release of Joomla 1.7 on 19. July 2011, we've also updated Widgetkit to support the latest 1.7 version as well. This makes Widgetkit work perfectly on Joomla 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7 and the latest Wordpress 3.2. Here is an overview of all the new widgets we've added since the first beta release:
We are proud to finally announce the first release of Widgetkit our next generation tool set. Widgetkit is the successor of the famous YOOtools we first introduced in January 2008. Back then the YOOtools were only built to work with Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.0 (for those who remember the old times) and until today enriched countless websites. As time flies by so fast in the web, our tools aged and were due for a major update. So we started working on a new version of our tools back in August 2010, right after we finished our work on the Warp 5.5 theme framework.
