YOOtheme Pro 1.7 released

This YOOtheme Pro release is a really huge one — like two in one! The much anticipated Builder Module for Joomla and the Builder Widget for WordPress have arrived! But that‘s not all! Another giant feature is the new Parallax effect! From now on you can animate nearly every element in your layout, like text, images, section backgrounds as well as grids and galleries. More innovations of the latest YOOtheme Pro version are the Newsletter and the Popover element. And there is still more. Time to get excited!

The Builder module and widget

YOOtheme Pro now comes with an additional Joomla module and a WordPress widget which gives you the full power of the layout builder. By publishing this module/widget on the top or bottom positions, you can create sophisticated layouts with unlimited sections above and below the main content.

The Builder Module and Widget

Collapsing layouts

In YOOtheme Pro 1.7, the Module element (Joomla) or Widget element (WordPress) lets the layout column collapse, if the selected module is not published on a specific page or if the user does not have the permission to see it. This prevents empty areas on your page when a module is not visible on the current page and makes builder layouts really flexible when combined with Joomla modules and WordPress widgets. Collapsing layouts

Position and Area elements

There is also a new Position element (Joomla) and a new Area element (WordPress) which allows you to place a complete Joomla module position (or a WordPress widget area respectively) inside your builder layout. If no module is published on a position, the layout column will collapse. This is very powerful — you can now create the module position layout of the theme yourself.

Positition and Area Elements

All these new additions solve a number of issues. For example, you can have multiple sections with complex layouts above and below the main content, the sidebar position can now show up within a builder page, you can have different footers on different pages, multi-lingual footers are now possible and much more.

The deeper integration of Joomla modules and WordPress widgets is a start to make YOOtheme Pro well suited for complex websites, like news portals and more. This is just the beginning and we are really excited about what's next to come. We also reworked the module documentation with info graphics and video tutorials to get you started.

Parallax for elements

The popular Parallax feature is part of the latest UIkit release and can be seen in action in our June theme Juno. There are no limits to your creativity in combination with this effect. You can animate your content by entering the user-friendly interface with range pickers. Give your website a subtle 3D effect and highlight certain elements. Just play around and let headlines, text and images fly with the Parallax effect.

Parallax for elements

Background image parallax for sections

The new YOOtheme Pro release also includes the Parallax feature for background images of sections in the page builder. It makes it possible to animate the background horizontally or vertically and even works when the background image is set to auto, cover or contain.

Background Image Parallax for sections

Parallax mode for grid and gallery element

Additionally, the Parallax effect is available for the Grid and Gallery elements. This is an eye-catcher for every website and creates a smooth effect while scrolling.

Parallax mode for grid and gallery element

Newsletter element

Newsletters make it easy to keep your customers up to date on new products, projects or sales discounts. Our Newsletter element allows you to collect news subscribers for your Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor account. You have the choice between three layouts and can show or hide the name fields.

Newsletter element

Popover element

Use popovers on visual elements such as the product presentations in our June theme. You can position the marker wherever you want and the dropdown with detailed information will appear by hovering or clicking on the marker. You can place it to the top, bottom, left and right.

Popover element

Width and height options for the logo

Thanks to the new advanced logo options you are able to set height and width for logos in YOOtheme Pro. The image will be resized and cropped automatically. Additional images for high resolution displays will be generated and set via the srcset attribute.

More additions

These are the main features of YOOtheme Pro 1.7, but there is even more. For example, you can now render the headline element as a div, which is useful to remove semantic meaning, and you can also add a link to the headline. Furthermore, there is a new link style called text available across all elements in the builder. And last but not least: From now on the Media Picker will remember your last browsed folder upon opening to improve your workflow.

We are really excited about YOOtheme Pro 1.7 and hope you are too! Stay tuned and give us your feedback in the comments below.

Thank you for this! This helps add YTP sections to non-static pages! Very helpful.

Thank you for adding the Logo sizes. However, you are still confined by the NAV ITEM size. Would be nice if they automatically changed each other, or if NAV ITEM setting was with the logo size.

I am a longtime Yootheme customer. I created with the Warp framework the best websites. Unfortunately, I still do not know how Yoothem Pro works. I just do not know how to adapt it to my needs. For customer projects I can not use it at all. Too bad. And shame!

Please just try the new Builder module. This is super powerful because you can layout the module positions of the theme yourself. You can now build everything like you did with Warp 7, even much more. Take a look at the documentation http://yootheme.com/pro/docs/#/modules

We are continuously working on making YOOtheme Pro better. Like this release which gave you a layout builder for module positions, you can add a parallax effect to everything, you get a newsletter signup form, there is a new Popover element... It's really a huge update. And there are so many great features on the horizon. Take a look at the roadmap https://yootheme.com/support/question/103519

If you need more help to understand Pro or there is something missing, please open a support thread and I will try to help you.

    As a long time customer / developer .. subscription since 2009 .. I am with she4www.

Installed Pro .. but it doesn't feel comfortable ... in not a million years I see how my customers can change content in this system without a steep learning curve.

Maybe this module builder gives us back the possibilities of Warp 7 .. but I have to test this first.

Wish Yootheme a lot of wisdom.

We have a really great idea how users can just edit the content fields which were used within the builder. I'm happy to discussion our ideas in the support center.

why reinvent the wheel?? ZOO is so flexible and comprehensive to create sites, that frontend users can change content in a simple and comfortable way. Why not bring ZOO on a next level? Now, there is now way to combine YTP / Page Builder and ZOO in a reasonable way. ZOO and Warp was a absolutely winner combination! But I guess you buried ZOO. So sad!

    Hi Sascha,
I do not know if what I am going to ask is already asked often.
I kind of feel bad that WARP is leaving us. However ...
Then I thought is might have a real benefit since YooTheme Pro is not so core based.
When we go to Joomla! 4, ... are we just updating YooThem Pro and that's it?
Different from updating WARP > lot of labour

I see peoples comments about not getting Yootheme Pro. I understand their issues, when I first started using it on a personal site a few months ago I was scratching my head for a while. But with time and perseverance I can now say that I actually quite like YT Pro. Since then I've built quite a few sites and I've had great feedback.
But, Sascha can we get back to Pagekit now ;?

YOOtheme PRO is awesome. I don´t understand why some people don´t get it. Peharps is because i´m not a developer. I´m just a photographer who are very proud of his website made with YOOtheme PRO.

It's because it's such a new way of working from what went before with Warp. It is also nigh on impossible to let the customer edit their content themselves adequately via the frontend.

However, the Yoo guys are obviously working hard to get that last point addressed.

I initially hated it but installed on a test site and had a good couple of days getting my head around it and all I can say is that it was worth the effort. I now love it and I think it's 90% on the way to being perfect and I really appreciate the effort these people put into this product.

Nice website by the way Arthur :-)

Does this version finally work with Multisite? So far with Yootheme Pro, you can create multiple websites in a multisite network using the Parent Yootheme theme. However, if you change the style or make any changes to that last selected style, those changes directly affect another other sites using the Yootheme Parent theme. So far the only solution is to duplicate and rename the Yootheme folder for Each multisite site, which seems to defeat the purpose of having a Parent theme. Thanks!

It's a problem/bug from the start. See my post months ago:

      https://yootheme.com/support/question/106011

They keep saying its on their 'to do' list:

      Todo list (Medium priority)
Improve child themes (Make everything work)

      Look here: https://yootheme.com/support/question/103519

I personally can't understand why this error doesn't get any more attention.

This is really the ONLY thing keeping us from implementing YTP for our customers. We simply can't :(

some great new features. :) Where can I post ideas for future? Here? Let me know if i need to move this..

I have numerous sites I have using yootheme pro. I think an awesome idea would to allow cross site access to "My Layouts" as I find myself copying articles into a test page so I can load the my elements into the library from site to site.

Maybe a way to link them in using the API key?

Also a cool idea would be to offer "Community Layouts".

This could be a section where members of the community could submit layouts for others to use. Might have to set all images to remove for licensing issues etc but I think having something like that would be really valuable.
    • florian

These are definitely great ideas. And we actually have something like that in mind already - definitely something like having your own layouts shared through the API. :) Community layouts are a nice idea as well, thanks for the idea.
I personally do not know how far down the roadmap the priority lies, but the team has it on the list.
