installing latest version of yoothemepro overwrites all my template styles

Hi there,

I've just downloaded the latest version of yoothemepro; yootheme_j3_1.2.4.

I installed it on a site I'd been working on and it has overwritten all my template styles like colour changes and default font settings. I expected all my settings remain and just the core files to be upgraded. Is this the intended behaviour? If so how do I go about saving my style when updating?

Hi,

the two sites you've linked use different styles, one uses 'material' and the other one 'minimal'. When you switch the style the sites will look the same again.
The current selected style is saved in the database and does not change when you install an update.

How did you install the update?

A theme's styling can be modified in the Style section and custom markup can of course be added in the page Builder. So creating a child theme will only be necessary for very advanced customizations.

That seems to suggest that I don't need a child theme if I'm only modifying the Style?

That's true. For example if you change the color of the navbar, that will/should survive an update (because the changes are stored in the database and not file system level as far as I know). I just tested an update but my style changes survived the update.

Can you reproduce this issue?

Is there a style file I will be able to copy, then update yootheme, and then replace my style after?

Brill, thank you Hendrik that is the answer. However the site that lost my style actually already had the correct "material" style selected in the settings, it just wasn't displaying it in the frontend. When I selected another style, and then switched back to material it loaded correctly.
