Newbie alert - question about Related Items

Hi,

Just bought ZOO and is really amazed about the easy and use - and kinda annoyed over myself, for not having looked into ZOO before ;)

Anyway - there is one thing, I can't seem to work out, and thats about related items.

Lets take the Movie Database as and example - if create/edit a Movie, and Add a Actor to the list of the cast, I have now created a link/relation from the movie to the actor. But it seems, there is not created a link/relation back from the actor back to the movie and I have to create that myself as well?

Or I other words - if have a large database of movies and actors, and create a new movie, and add 20 actors to the cast list, I then also have to edit the 20 actors, to enter the same movie to their list of movies they have appeared in?

I sure there must be a way around this, that I haven't seen or found yet, with my limited experience with ZOO, and would appreciate if someone could give me a pointer or 2, to make that a two way relation, and not just one way :)

Cheers

Hi Henrik Holm Nielsen,

But it seems, there is not created a link/relation back from the actor back to the movie and I have to create that myself as well?

Yes, that's correct. Unfortunately, the relation will only be created unidirectional. bidirectional relations are not part of ZOO per default, afaik. You will have to edit all 20 actors.

However, there's an extension by ZOOlanders called Related Items Pro that seems to offer this feature. This is not an official recommendation or anything, just a personal hint.

Kind regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Thanx a lot for your response - appreciate it!
Quite surprised, there is no bidirectional relation built in ZOO by default...!

But I really appreciate you suggestion an pointer to ZOOlanders, and I have now bought subscription to their elements package and implementet Related Items Pro, which works perfect for me!

Again - much appreciate your response and help!

Cheers,
Henrik Holm Nielsen :)
