how to manually change the order of a slider item

Hello

even on newest version of widget kit when we create a slider or other types of display on custom type we are not able to change the order of the slider items
so if there is a change to be done then we have to delete all and re create the slider
this is a big pain
it is a strange bug ?
on older versions of widgetkit this feature was provided

Pls advice
Kind Regards

To change the order of a Widgetkit's items just drag and drop them to their desired sequence:

For your benefit I particularly tried that in Widgetkit 2.7.1 in Joomla and WordPress right now.
Changing the order worked as it should, and the changes were maintained.

Please try again.

Which precise version of Widgetkit in which CMS do you use?
Make sure it is the most recent version — 2.7.1 at the time being.

As rule: Whenever there is an issue, make sure to apply all pending updates of all the software you use. To make sure that your issue is not caused by something that already has been taken care of you have to use the most recent versions available.

If the site this is about is the same one as linked to in your other question http://yootheme.com/support/question/96325, your Widgetkit is no up to date. Please update your outdated Widgetkit 2.6.1.

Thank you

This is strange...
we have the latest joomla 3.5.1 and latest widgetkit 2.7.1 and we cannot see this cross sign to drag and drag n drop does not work..

it seems that there is a conflict somewhere...

have you tested it with JCE editor ? ( is the most used around )

it might worth if you could add an ordering box as well with a small save disk as was on old times...

The cross-arrow is the cursor icon. It only shows while you drag.
Click and hold the mouse button over an item, then drag it up or down.

it seems that there is a conflict somewhere...

Please provide more information. Which conflict did you find?
Did you inspect the page with Firebug or a similar tool and got JavaScript errors?
If so: Which errors were these?

A conflict is theoretically possible. But based on the information your provide there is no way of guessing which conflict that might be or how to solve it.

Where should the WYSIWYG editor JCE come in here?
Mind that not even if set to be your Joomla's default editor, the JCE editor is not active anywhere in Widgetkit 2.

Because you asked I tried with JCE 2.5.16 to make sure:

Changing the order worked fine.

Yes, in the "old times" everything worked and there never were any issues with boxes and disk icons. Those were the days.
And if this "ordering box" and "save disk" doesn't work as well we resort to paper or wood. ;-)

But seriously: Changing the order of items in Widgetkit should work perfectly fine.
It is very likely that there is something in your installation that causes an issue.

Can you change the order of Joomla menu items via drag-and-drop?
This technique is used in the native Jooma Menu Manager as well.

Did you clear your browser's cache?

Did you revise your browser add-ons?

Did you try a different browser?

Thank you

Well, This problem occurs in a very specific way etiher. I tried to figure out this issue for whole week, or more..

In my case, ( Joomla 3.7.2, Widgetkit 2.9.8 ) there was no conflicts, no any other possible reason, everything was OK but It wasn't working. There was no error in console.
I tried all browsers, (No extension, newly installed browsers.)
Finally I figured out something.
When I changed the mobile view in chrome debugger, in any phone layout, I could move the items by dragging. Then I tried a real phone, and still it was working perfectly again.

Occurance:
Then I realized.
My screen was a touch screen!!!
SO,
If you are using a touch screen on your PC, you can't simply use Drag & drop feature with your mouse. You should use it by touching and as you know it's not a common way, Well I have a touch screen but I never use it for this kind of purpose.
Also,
I had disabled touch screen on Windows Setting - Device Manager as it's stated here: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/disable-touch-screen-windows-10

Even if my touch screen is disabled, Chrome and all other browsers works as if it's active.

Solution
There is a flag setting in chrome: ( you can reach it by going to chrome://flags/ )

Touch initiated drag and drop Windows, Chrome OS
Touch drag and drop can be initiated through long press on a draggable element. #enable-touch-drag-drop

And this setting's default configuration works as touch, and simply you can't drag and drop your mouse.

So, the real soluion should be this: Drag & Drop feature should work by mouse even if it is a touch screen.

I hope this helps others.
