Child Themes

Child themes let you customize and extend YOOtheme Pro without modifying the core theme. All changes live in a separate folder and stay preserved when YOOtheme Pro is updated. This is perfect for smaller project-specific adjustments.

Add custom JavaScript, CSS, fonts, template overrides or a custom Less style, or create custom builder elements for a client project. Advanced developers can also register custom modules and add project-specific PHP functionality.

Child themes work in both Joomla and WordPress and keep your customizations organized and portable. In WordPress, activating a child theme automatically copies the parent theme settings, including menus and widgets, so you can get started right away.

For reusable functionality across multiple projects, use the Starter Plugin instead. It creates a fully functional Joomla or WordPress plugin and is better suited for distributing custom features, integrations or extensions.
