Responsive images are generated as srcset variants in multiple sizes, allowing the browser to choose the best version for the viewport and screen resolution. This improves loading times on mobile devices while keeping images sharp on large and high-resolution displays.
Images are lazy loaded by default and only load as they enter the viewport. This speeds up the initial page load, reduces bandwidth and helps improve PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals. For important images in the initial viewport, for example in a hero section, you can load them eagerly instead.
YOOtheme Pro can also generate next-gen image formats like WebP and AVIF from your original JPEG and PNG files. They are served through the picture element, so each browser automatically receives the best supported format.
