Michael did not really answer the question, he gave a brief description of the principal of caching in general, and then said do a google search if you want to learn more. I did a google search about route caching, and it yielded nothing relevant to Zoo, joomla, or anything that only a php programmer could decipher.

What Zoo users need is to know how the setting works in Zoo (what is cached and where is the cache stored), when to use it, when to disable it, how it works in combination with Joomla cache settings, and how to clear the route cache if needed.
