Aurora Theme

Happy new year, everyone! 2015 starts awesome! We’ve got two great releases for you. First, a new theme: Aurora, and it comes with something completely new - it’s the first theme built with the revolutionary Widgetkit 2! The next generation of our beloved toolkit is built freshly from the ground up and based on a new concept. With Widgetkit 2 you are able to display your widget anywhere on your website by just using shortcodes. We are preparing a blog post to give you all details about the new stuff in Widgetkit 2 — so be excited!

Aurora provides a special sidebar layout position where we've published the main menu. It can also be set to be fixed in its position. The Sidebar width can be modified from 15% to 50%. In some of our styles the sidebar layout position features background images, which can optionally be fixed. In addition, we provide a subtle parallax scrolling effect for the images.

As mentioned above, Aurora is the first theme which applies Widgetkit 2. We have also added a Bonus Grid Widget for Aurora. The grid features a nice overlay caption effect for image elements in grid items. Just select "Above" or "Below" the title to align media and it will work automatically.

  • Optionally fixed Sidebar Layout
  • Subtle parallax background effect
  • Ripple effect for buttons and navigations
  • Section divider and additional layout positions
  • Show/ Hide page title in WordPress
  • 6 pre-built style variations
  • Easy customizer and LESS integration
  • Based on UIkit and Warp framework
  • WooCommerce support
  • Widgetkit 2 Grid bonus widget

Why do we need to load uikit.min.js and uikit.js ? Wouldn't it be nice to load it just once if the template already does it ?

Please update your theme to the latest version and UIkit will not be loaded twice. For further questions please ask in our support center.

could you please provide a solid tutorial for widgetkit 2.0 ? the links provide all lead to the previous version and are therefore useless.

We released Widgetkit 2 so you can already play around with it a little bit. Sure we will provide a comprehensive documentation soon. There will also be a blog post about Widgetkit 2 next week. In the meantime read this as a starting point http://yootheme.com/demo/themes/joomla/2015/aurora/index.php/features/widgetkit

After some "try and error" Widgetkit 2 works good for me. Now I'm waiting for the gallery module. In the meantime I'm using the slideshow module. --> www.hjkaiser.com

I installed aurora for tests and well ... as far as I can see, widgetkit2 ist not offering all features of widgetkit1. But in every old instllation you tell me to update to widgetkit2. What happens if I do so, is all widgetkit stuff lost in that site? Wouldn't it be a good idea to let widgetkit1 exist parallel to wigetkit2 or what are your plans towards that issue?

hi yootheme! when I saw the new template yesterday, i had to agree with some of the comments. I was a little bit dissappointed. but it is like to see a woman for the first time: don´t rely on the first look!!! I slept a night about it and took today the second look. so my opinion changed: the new technique is awesome! I spend a lot of time on the demo version to understand what happend! no I can say: great ideas! I think it would be a hard time to teach clients to work with widgetkit2 and I think, it would be easier, when widgetkit2 work parallel with widgetkit1, but I can not have everything. the design is not outstanding, but this is already my job. warp and uikit gives me the chance to do what I like. in summary: a very good start in 2015! thanks yootheme!

Any news on when we are going to get the instructions on how to use Widgetkit2? I have installed on a live site (stupid idea) and its completely crashed the site and now the site unusable and I have installed it in a test environment but it doesn't appear to be as user friendly as the previous version. Disappointed springs to mind!

I have to agree with Mark. I really think that you shouldn't launch something as radically different as Widgetkit 2.0 without proper documentation ready to go. I've installed the demo content but it's still pretty confusing due to it being completely new. Support is pretty quiet on Widgetkit 2.0 queries too. Don't get me wrong, from what I see it is brilliant, just need proper documentation on how to use it to it's full potential.

Bit disappointed that it isn't released for Joomla 2.5

I know you have to switch sometimes but we are waiting for Joomla 4 because 3 is not for us. From our point of view we won't be doing anything in Joomla 3. I really wish you had discontinued 2.5 templates when 4 was released.

Nice designs but no point us staying with Yootheme anymore.

In case of creation of this subject you didn't consider permissions more than 1920х1080, the site looks on them not correctly everything displaces to the left

Aurora doesn't look all that interesting but fully responsive Widgetkit 2 looks great. I really do love Warp 7 and the UIKit classes.

HI Yooguys... Like the theme... loving Widgetkit 2..

It has lots of potential and I love that it has UIKit at heart...

There are some things in there that I think (or rather hope) were influenced (even if only slightly) by UIkit for ZOO...

You've really taken things to the next level. Many congratulations! :)

Looks like Widgetkit 2.0 will be pretty cool, but please guys can we have a Save and Close button, it's really annoying having to go back to the menu to get to the rest of the widgets we make.

Has anybody experienced any problem saving a style in the template customizer? This is not working for me and I have tried everything. I've never had this problem with any other template.
