Recap 2015 - Check out lasts year projects and highlights

2015 has been filled with great moments and exciting projects. The beginning of a new year is always a good opportunity to look back and see what has happened. We would also like to take the opportunity and look ahead to see what our plans are for the upcoming months.

Talks and conferences

Once more, the Joomla community has gathered for their yearly meeting in Germany. This time the event took place in our home city of Hamburg – of course we joined in again. We had the chance to give three talks about Widgetkit, UIkit and Warp. Our booth at the event was a location where we could meet with some of you. Many came by to talk and give feedback. Thanks, it's always greatly appreciated.

Having had much fun with the Symfony community in Berlin the year before, we felt like going again in 2015. The event was a great opportunity to present the current status of Pagekit. Many thanks for all the great conversations at our booth.

In October, Barcelona was calling for the Smashing Conference – and so we went there with the whole team. The amazing talks on stage – and inspiring conversations off stage – made the event really special to us. It's also safe to say we truly fell in love with Barcelona.

Pagekit 1.0

One of our biggest goals last year was to release a public version of Pagekit. Our team worked hard on the big beta release in September and all releases since. We are really happy to have lively interaction and to see the project come alive. With over 20.000 registered developers at pagekit.com and over 2300 Github Stargazers, we are really excited about bringing Pagekit to the end users in 2016. This spring Pagekit will finally go 1.0 Stable! It will be accompanied by a bunch of free themes that will make it easy to use Pagekit for any kind of project. Watch out for news about Pagekit 1.0...

We are proud to be one of the early adopters of Vue.js and being an active part of their community since then by contributing the Vue resource component. Pagekit being one of the biggest Open Source projects using Vue.js makes us proud.

Our themes in 2015

Our themes in 2015

What can be expected in 2016?

In 2016 our focus will be on YOOtheme itself and our themes. Many thoughts and hours of work have gone into the next big version of our theme framework. We have received many ideas and wishes from the community and development is already in full swing. We can't tell you much at the moment, but... It looks like it will be GROUNDBREAKING. We are really, really excited about it.

Since our themes and our beloved front-end framework UIkit go hand in hand, development on UIkit 3 has also started. We have some really great ideas and are looking forward to an release later this year.

We want to give a big thanks to our community. All your support and feedback encourages us to keep working on our projects. We really appreciate every comment and idea you are providing - that's what got us where we are today. Thank you!

We hope you had a great start in the new year and wish all of you an exciting and successful year 2016!

    Great news.

Can you please give us a roadmap or status on Zoo? Will development progress with the component? Any new features?

We have some ideas floating around how the next major ZOO should look like but we are still gathering ideas. As mentioned in the post above the next big step is to bring our themes to a completly new level ;-) In the meantime your feedback for ZOO is much appreciated.

I would love to see Zoo elements that store date unique to each user. So it could be notes about a particular Zoo item, a Mark As read checkbox, etc.

You are doing a GREAT job guys but you should take seriously support in consideration as its not the best part of YooTheme.

You're awesome. But you need to do some improvements in support. Maybe you can charge a little more and give us more support. Zen desk ticket system will be great, also live support for premium users.

really looking forward to Warp 8 and really love the work that has been done on uikit and Widgetkit 2 this last year.
However, as mentioned above 2 areas which could really do with some attention are:
    - Zoo - although new functionality has been added it 'feels' like nothing major has changed here for a long time. It would be great to see Zoo get some attention soon as it feels like this is gradually being left behind, which is worrying if like me you have a lot of websites which utilise zoo. Maybe some new apps? An update to the interface? Some new templates?

    - Support - this has been an ongoing major problem for years now. The current system just does not work. Is this side of the business ever going to get improved?

But all in all, I am very happy with the majority of your products, so thank you for the hard work you have put in over the last year :)

You all do a very great job! Can you tell us how long we have to wait for the next generation of themes and warp 8?

And what's about template for pagekit? Are the upcoming templates compatible to pagekit?

It would be great if you give us some more informations in an higher frequency.
