Nano3 Theme

Support for LESS and based on Warp 7

Nano3 Theme

After our big announcement last week, we are very excited to present Nano3, the first theme based on our Warp 7 framework. It is the third generation of popular Nano theme and, like its predecessors, serves as a brilliant blueprint for your custom built themes.

Nano3 is lightweight and streamlined to demonstrate what our new framework can do and to introduce you to the new features it brings with it, which we are happy to say are quite a lot!

  • Full support for LESS
  • Customizer with color picker and Google fonts support
  • New administration area with all theme options in one place
  • UIkit, our new front-end framework
  • Beautiful off-canvas navigation for mobile devices
  • Full Bootstrap support for Joomla 3.1
  • And much more...

Customizer

Modifying our theme has never been so easy! Thanks to our new customizer, you will no longer need to write any code or require CSS knowledge at all to adjust colors, fonts, spacing and so on. You can simply pick colors or enter your own values. All this works through our very own front-end framework called UIkit, specially developed for Warp. Right now we are preparing the UIkit website and you can expect the official release within the next weeks.

New theme administration

One of the more obvious changes in Warp 7 is the theme administration overhaul. Everything is now in one place. Module class suffixes are no longer required. Widget styles, icons and badges can simply be selected and you can show or hide widgets on different devices with just one click. Plus, it looks awesome ;-)

What's to come

Of course, we will also release a new and improved version of our GPL licensed Master Theme. Which will be available later this summer. So, stay tuned.

In the meantime, we hope you are as excited as we are about Warp 7 and we are anxious to hear your feedback.

Awesome Features, however it neglects a lot of the old features. This will need impeccable documentation as well. For example if you make any custom changes to the theme.css file and then go into the backend and use the warp 7 customizer any changes you have made will then be overwritten and you will have to start from scratch. Old warp you were able to set custom font for menu, body, and headers. Now you cannot adjust menu Font. I like it alot but like anything needs refinement .

Do the change in theme.less instead of *.css, the customizer compiles the less in to css everytime you save it, so all changes in css will be removed.

Master Theme is a very basic theme that acts as a blueprint when you build your website. It does not come with different styles, colors and stuff like that. Nano is also a basic theme but does come with different styles, color options and so on. Both designs are basic on purpose. They allow the more experienced developer to make the template into there own. The Master Theme & Nano Theme are also a great way to become familiar with the Warp Framework without design overkill. Anyway that is just my opinion. I personally love the Master & Nano Themes and have used them both many times.

While the new features and capabilities of Warp7 are impressive, and the UI Kit is a much needed improvement, I am very disappointed in Nano3

With Nano2 you offered different options for layout, such as full width. All the 'styles' are so simple and basic.

You guys used to create awesome options and module variations. Now it seems like you're just going through the motions and putting little effort into the options.

We went from having multiple custom options and variations available to 'here, we changed the color for you'.

Sorry Kray. You are missing the point. And many of us actual developers don't want all the bloat of pre-made styles. Write your own. ITS FUN! The "styles" are typically a little more than color and texture changes. Some themes have more drastic options than others. This is a v1 release of a new framework. Give these guys some slack. It's a great product.

I never use their built in styles myself. Why would you want to look like every other Yootheme site? Customize it yourself. Create new template styles. Hack the CSS to fit your brand and your project. DO THE WORK. Don't expect a turnkey solution for EVERYTHING. Do some thinking on your own.

I don't understand the people who hit these announcement comment sections to b*tch and moan. If you don't like the product, then don't renew your subscription. Leave.

I'm sorry to pick on you Kray, but if you spent the same amount of time exploring the new theme framework as you do commenting to complain about it... you would probably be surprised how much you are able to learn on your own!

I can't wait to see the official documentation, but that's not stopped me from building something already... testing out the customizer, the new mobile menu, etc.

Daveis, I think you might be missing the point. This is a template club that releases templates. If you're a developer, you use the Master Theme and do what you please, that's what its for. Why would you join a template club if you want to write your own? Seems counter intuitive to me.

The monthly templates should be full featured because most users will not go that in depth and want a quick solution, hence using a template club in the first place.

I know how much I can learn, but when I PAY for a product, I expect it to be a certain level. Releasing with no documentation and limited features is the exact opposite of what people expect, v1 or not. If you want to do that, you release as a BETA not an actual release.

It takes me 5mins to write a comment, I'm not going to figure out a new system in that time, get real.

I use the Master template for most of my work (As mentioned in another comment), and I DO THE WORK. I pay for a membership for support (Which is seriously lacking) and I have SERIOUSLY considered not renewing when my membership expires for that reason.

          daveis

          | Profile |
Well I guess we just see it differently. I hardly feel that this release is lacking in features. I don't see that they have removed anything compared to Warp 6?

In playing with Warp 7 so far, I think the "Customizer" (in the template options) compiling to LESS is worth the price of admission. It actually makes overrides 10 times faster, since you don't even have to write the CSS yourself to re-style the default UI elements, base styles, global margins/gutters etc.

I commend you for using the Master templates. I also use a modified version of Master for most of my projects. They are a good generic base that don't have overly "opinionated" styles... so that we can code our own look and feel on top of the framework.

I feel the same way about this Warp 7 version of Nano. It is pretty basic (intentionally) and allows a good starting point. The additional customization features in the template options area (backend) offer much more opportunity for changes without writing any code (compared to previous Warp versions).

I have to imagine like all other Yootheme templates, the designs of each monthly release under Warp 7 will continue to get better and better... pushing what one can do with the framework.

Lastly, I must say that I joined this template club because they offer a good balance of generic developer friendly solutions... which we can build on top of... and many out-of-the-box templates which make most of the design decisions for you. This drastically cuts down on my development time when working on a new site. They offer me a solid platform. I don't have to code Joomla templates from scratch for my clients anymore. They give me features I can offer to my clients (responsive mobile compatibility, lots of web fonts, easy updates) and I didn't have to lift a finger in solving those problems (especially mobile). Is it perfect? No. Is it pretty damn good? Yes.

I guess my final point is this: they can't be all things to all people. But to complain that they are releasing poor quality templates simply because it does not meet your specific needs is not a fair assessment. (The lack of documentation is a fair complaint. But not worth canceling my membership. As documentation will arrive soon enough).

It is very clear to me how much work has gone into Warp 7 (and each monthly template). I have yet to find another template club which can exceed this quality. So while I don't admire every single design decision they make... I surely appreciate all the hard work.

I LOVE YOU THEME AND THINK NANO 3, WARP 7, AND UI KIT HAVE AMAZING POTENTIAL. I PERSONALLY RANK YT HAS ONE OF THE TOP 2 TEMPLATE CLUBS FOR JOOMLA. YT DOES AMAZING WORK.

I understand that here int he United States a YT membership cost $326.12. That comes out to a cost of $27.17 a month. Membership provides you with 12 new themes, all the old ones, Widget Kit, Warp Framework and more. I understand that YT does have to provide some support for there products but also understand that they are a template club and not my personal web designer. If you want to design or develop websites with Joomla and don't have basic HTML5 & CSS skills then you are barking up the wrong tree. I can invest 80 hours customizing a YT template and building website for my client and still make a lot of money. I don't want to pay a thousand a year for a template club membership so the template club can do all my work. Enough said... Thank You Yoo Theme!!

Please update your past theme designs to Warp 7 so we don't have to totally redesign websites that used your themes.

The whole point of a theme is to easily design and maintain a site. When themes are not updated for the latest technology and Joomla versions it defeats that purpose.

The social icons are part of UIkit which on the other hand uses FontAwesome as icon font.

You find all available brand icons here http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/icons/#brand

If you want more just ask FontAwesome to include them.

It's not the icons that we're talking about. It's the inclusion in the profile along with Twitter, Facebook & Google+ for one of the largest social "business" platforms.

At the every least if you have to include Social buttons, at least offer 1 slot for an "any" subscribe button that the user can populate.

Hope with a big slice of juicy demand. Of course we can Photoshop something together but come on, LinkedIN?... Not there?

Do some of your template lovers a big favor Yootheme. Implement more social features in your next update. Nonetheless, great job on Warp and UIkit!!! Lovin' it.
