Frequency Theme

Get in tune for Frequency, the March 2014 theme release. This unique theme comes with a rich, handdrawn styling that makes it a perfect base for your blog, event or any kind of quirky website creation.

Frequency bursts with cool features and offers some true eye candy. Stun your visitors with an amazing full screen parallax background. Each style comes with a different moving background image for you to use in your own project. The effect also can easily be disabled. But there are still other nifty details. Check out the module edges, which vary with every style. The UI is enhanced with background textures, giving the theme a consistent, vintagy look. In addition Frequency also comes with a bonus style for the Widgetkit Slideset, which perfectly fits the theme's design.

Frequency is based on Warp 7 and provides full support for LESS. The front-end is completely built with UIkit and can be modified through the Customizer. You can change colors, spacings and fonts without having to write a single line of code. To get you started, Frequency already provides 8 different style variations with parallax backgrounds to choose from for your project.

  • Full LESS support
  • Full UIkit integration
  • 8 pre-built style variations available
  • 8 stunning backgrounds with parallax effect (optional)
  • Widgetkit Slideset Bonus Style
  • Beautiful off-canvas navigation for mobile devices
  • All Warp framework features are available

I feel compelled to expand on my initial comment - the theme looks like someone learned a new technique and decided to implement it but in a rather lackluster way - hey look I can do parallax backgrounds!

I don't want visitors to show up to 'play' with my Website, I want them to show up thinking they will find quality information in the most expedient manner possible.

Can't use this theme for that because it sooo distracting. What possible scenario could a mouse tracking background be beneficial for? Probably if you were an animator or cartoonist. And the nav menu dividers and the drop-down borders (jagged???) are hideous. Really, the theme looks like someone woke up mad at the world.

Maybe someone else will find fun in it or as a starting point to something grand, but in its default state my initial opinion stands. Meh.

If you find the parallax effect to distracting you can turn it off in the theme administration.

As to the menu style font.. I tend to like the "chalkboard" fonts and styles, though I will say that the Yoo team goes through font phases where they discover a look they like and we see it for several templates. (which trend this seems to be a part of)

If you don't like it, don't use it. And stop being so critical.

Nice work. Perfect for a adventure website, traveling and discovery. I will try to play with the parallax effect but if Yootheme want to make a small guide, will be very welcome.

I guess the question is do we do sites that we know are right, or sites the client wants. The truth is most clients want fairy floss. This is the first Yootheme template since Pace I can find a use for. Whether you think they delivered or not, at least we are seeing some imagination. Now off to talk by ski travel website into updating......

The last three templates I really like a lot! Now I´m finally got under the skin of Warp 7, and I feel that I´ve got the control that I´ve been missing for a few months! Keep up the great work! :)

Nice! I really like the variations in the design over the laste templates. Keep up the good work.

However, widgetkit still needs better responsive behaviour. Look at "THIS YEAR'S LINEUP". I't's not that nice on a small screen...

Some of the menus are not legible depending on the variations you choose, i know its easy to change colors but i think it is important.
Also i think in responsive you should implement the variations for 5 views desktop, laptop, table vertical, horizontal and mobile vertical and horizonta instead of just three.

... another Theme which takes lot of valuable space on mobiles. It's a huge empty space for nothing because of padding and margins. The theme needs a lot of work before it's useful for mobiles. 12 days left on my subscription. I'm not sure I'll renew.

I have to agree (to some degree) with tannreiser on this.

One of the first things I find myself doing with almost all of the Yootheme temps is tightening or getting rid of padding & margins. And that is often before I consider mobile versions.

And the idea of the dramatic background styles for desk/laptop viewing being of any use to mobile viewing needs to be addressed.

Yootheme loves it some massive header/top graphics but that simply doesn't work for mobile devices.

I like it! I am going to use this today. That said, however, I really wish there was a quick and easy background upload option. Snowy mountains are good for some businesses but not for all... and in the summer? I know how to upload via ftp and all of that, but why can't we have a simple upload feature through the admin panel? I just built a website with Genesis Metro and the background upload feature is exactly what I'd love to see with Youthemes (since Youthemes are my favorite!)

Why quick and easy? I don't know about others, but there is only so much you can charge a client for a wordpress website. The less hours I have to fiddle over it, the better. That said, fancy parallax backgrounds certainly please clients! Thanks!

You people produce some terrific templates, hence my long association. But I'm afraid that we may soon part company... why? Without some form of hierarchial menus you don't cut the mustard. Grafting a third party menu system onto your template is time consuming and fraught with danger. Take a leaf out of RocketTheme's book and give people choice.
