YOOtheme Pro 1.11 released

Not so long ago we released YOOtheme 1.10 with the Slideshow element. And after UIkit Beta 36 introduced the new Slider component, we’ve been working tirelessly to bring it to YOOtheme Pro. Now finally YOOtheme Pro 1.11 and the new Slider element are here! Apart from that, there are some great enhancements for the Slideshow and Headline element. But that’s not all.

Slider

Thanks to our new Slider element, you can scroll through content items like in a carousel, either one by one or in sets. The Slider element is super flexible. With the center mode, you can make a hero slider which resembles the slideshow, with one active slide in the middle and two partially visible slides on the sides. Other great features include infinite scrolling and set mode. You can choose a fixed width equal for all items or allow each item to apply its own width. All this is possible without any jQuery dependency! Besides, the Slider element is responsive, fully customizable and has RTL support. No matter what device size you have, the new Slider element will make sure your photos look perfect everywhere.

Sets

The Slider element comes with a set mode that allows you to loop through sets of items instead of single slides. You can apply a gutter between slides, use center mode and display different navigations. The dotnav will even adapt automatically to the number of slides visible on different viewports.

Content Items

The slider has the same settings as the Overlay element due to the similar code. In the future, we even plan the slider to acquire the settings of the Panel element so that the text can be displayed not only on top of the slides but also underneath them.

Enhanced Slideshow Element

Building the slider which actually shares the code base of the slideshow, we couldn't resist the opportunity to pimp up the Slideshow element even more. The slidenav can now be positioned outside the slides, you can change its color, and set the breakpoint at which the slidenav will be positioned within the slides again.

Enhanced Slideshow Element

Enhanced Headline

Yet another improvement in YOOthene Pro 1.11. is a new setting for the Headline element. If the headline is linked, it can have a hover effect. This is very practical since you can use it as a call to action instead of a button.

Retina-ready

Images in YOOtheme Pro are resized automatically when a width or a height is given. Apart from that, two other versions of an image, 80% and 200%, are created to ensure the best possible quality of images both for mobiles and retina screens. While it is not a problem to create an 80% version of an image, 200% can only be generated if the original size of the image allows it, meaning the original image is double as large as the targeted image size. If not, YOOtheme Pro will generate the image with the highest resolution possible. This will guarantee the best experience on every device.

What else?

YOOtheme Pro 1.11. also presents some other neat improvements and fixes. For instance, we have updated the Google Fonts library, so now you can use all the latest Google Fonts for your website. We also have made the Accordion, the Overlay and the Gallery elements accessible through keyboard navigation. In Joomla we now allow PDF upload through the media manager, and child themes can now override the error.php file. For a full list of changes and smaller bug fixes, please refer to the Changelog in YOOtheme Pro -> Settings -> About.

What's next?

Currently we are finishing up the new YOOtheme Pro demo package with new layouts and styles, which is about to be released later this week. The next step is the Masonry Grid with different filters, and a lot more surprises and improvements. Enjoy our Slider and let us know your feedback in the comments.

    Dear Sirs,

Thank you for the new release and it's new Features.
I admire your work from a technical and design viewpoint

However I dislike the fact how you communicate your Roadmap.

I feel that the latest additons for a two months work period are so marginal that i ask myself where is all the rest?

Last year you were talking about an extende documentation and a form Generator and much more. None of These things have been mentioned again and I have no idea when These Features will be released.

Please communicate a clear Roadmap so that we all know when what will be coming.

    Thank you very much indeed.

I agree with Chris. I've been back and forth to the site over the last 2 months waiting on a new template and new features. I've paid for new template licences and new widget kit licences and it's disappointing that there's no clarity around a road map.

Don't get me wrong - I love your work but I think we could get some more clarity about what's coming down the line so we can also plan accordingly

@chris.zimmermann @kiltipper140 You wrote out of my mind... I know that sounds not very constructive, but all I have to say is already in this two comments!

I'm very very disappointed with the pace of Yootheme Pro development. I love the work you guys do but, between Nov. 7 - Jan 30, two elements

Thanks for the update. But as mentioned before. It would be great to gett these things soon. So we can build something more than static pages.

Content provideres. get content like in widgetkit. Easier to make news showing on site. Builder blogpost
Menu builder: Menus in yootheme Pro is a big setback from widgetkit. Let us arrange and buid menus. Not just any lists.
And a builder for contact pages. Contact pages in Joomla is a sad chapter.

Hey there, thanks for your feedback! Content provider will definitely come to YOOtheme Pro, but it will take a few months since there are other things we are working on at the moment.

I spent the last 2 days playing around with the slider component and I found it needed some improvements, so I really appreciate this Yootheme Pro update.
I am happy that I subscribed and I encourage the team to keep the good work.

I know that much stuff is still in development, and in particular I need more control on blog layout on articles layout and content providers, but I am enthusiastic so far. I hope that the Yootheme team understands that we push them to give us more features more layouts more of everything cause we sincerely love and admire what they do.

To all commenters saying this or that Theme/Framewok makes more progress or is more innovative - please name it. I'd be very interested in better solutions than YooTheme Pro, but currently, it is the only Theme / Builder Framework that has most Features I need without the need to add tons of Plugins and with that KBs of bloat.
Yootheme Pro still is a great Theme to build slick sites with speed and low-bandwidth networks (Mobile) in mind.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! Yes, your're right, communication is a bit vague at the moment, but I can assure you we are working on a lot of stuff behind the scenes. Some of it is not reflected in the roadmap because it is not really a feature but rather framework groundwork. For example, we are working on the Builder 2.0 based on Vue.js 2, which will enable us to add great features (from the roadmap) to YOOtheme Pro like white labeling, different builder views for end users, nested builder, form builder, stuff for ZOO and Widgetkit and much more. Our focus is also at finishing UIkit 3 feature-wise, so we can release a Stable version. This features always go directly into YOOtheme Pro like the Slideshow and the Slider element. The YOOtheme Pro documentation is also nearly finished. You can expect a lot of stuff coming to YOOtheme Pro in the 2. quarter this year

      Thank you Sascha for commenting.

Does this mean for the form builder we have to be patient until June 2018?

      Thanks for your specification.

Yes, a form builder is on our todo list. It goes hand in hand with the next ZOO ;-) But it is really really too early for any news about it. It will not be ready before summer, that's for sure.

      Thanks for your feedback.

However, I'am still missing some information regarding pagekit (see my comment below). Will it be updated in 2018? What about new themes and builder for pagekit?

Thanks in advance for providing at least some insight!

Pagekit got a lot of attention from us over the years till its 1.0 release. 2017 was the focus on our themes and UIkit. This year we will continue with it and also rework and bring ZOO and Widgetkit to the Pro/UIkit 3 eco system.

Pagekit will also get updates but it will be more groundwork like updating it to the latest Vue and UIkit versions. We also want to make all our Pro products available for Pagekit.

Thanks for getting back to my question - that would be absolutely awesome. I hope you will be able to provide the most important enhancements before the (still small) community vanishes. I think the users and developers would be happy if they could at least see small updates in the near future...

I guess no one can assess the technological challenges and dependencies better than the team itself. And don't forget that December and January in general are not the most productive months (end of the year, holiday, kickoffs etc.).

However, it seems that much effort goes into details and features / gimmicks, YOOtheme customers currently don't really demand. No one will miss headline or slider effects. But many of us miss transparency and updates of the most important parts of the YOOtheme eco system (e.g. ZOO). Furthermore YOOtheme seems to have to many balls in the air.

When was the last pagekit update? Although I really love the CMS it feels more than risky to use it for the next project. Last update > 1 year ago, no blog posts, no roadmap. That's not the way how to build trust and motivate your community to use and enhance the system. I very much regret this as I prefer pagekit over Joomla for small to medium sized projects.

Love Yootheme stuff over the past year and a bit I've been using Yootheme Pro and I love it. But right now what I want to desperately see is some Pagekit love! Starting with Yootheme Pro which would make a huge difference.

Hi, I am having trouble with the slider element - in uikit 3 I love the "card" example used under the heading "content" https://getuikit.com/docs/slider#content - however this feature seems to be missing when I use the element in yoothemePRO. Is it possible to achieve this currently, without resorting to hand coded sections?

      Hi Roger,
Unfortunately, this is not yet possible with YOOtheme Pro Slider. But we definitely plan to implement it.
