YOOtheme 3.0 – The Relaunch Part 2
Finally, we have just finished working on the missing parts, so our website is officially complete. Today, we are happy to present the fruits of our labor – the new promo video for YOOtheme Pro, new company pages, changes to our license and more. So let's get started right away.
YOOtheme Pro Video
In the past months we’ve been working on a project that was particularly fun to make. We produced a promotion clip for YOOtheme Pro! The video introduces YOOtheme Pro and gives you a peek into the features of our theme and page builder. So grab some coffee and check it out:
After extensive research and concept work we had a talented crew, actor and a dog turn our offices into a film set for a weekend. We had a great time making the film and are really proud of the result.
Company Pages
We have brand-new company pages for you. The About page tells you more about the team behind YOOtheme, our office, and provides contact information. On the Careers page you can find the openings in our company, the benefits of working with us and some trips we had together.
We are currently looking for someone to join our team in Hamburg. If you are a web designer or developer, a front-end developer, a support engineer or a student in Computer Science, send us your application and become part of the family.
Downloads
By popular demand, we simplified the process of downloading themes by integrating a download button on the themes overview page. Now when you hover a theme, you can either go to the details page of the theme or download it directly from the overview page. Clicking the image itself will get you to the theme preview. Also, once you log in, the Join Now button will no longer be displayed.
API Key and Websites
It's now possible to generate one API key for each website. This is very useful if you take care of multiple client websites because you no longer expose your "master" API key to your clients. Each client gets its own API key, which also can be deactivated individually. To manage your API keys, we added a Websites tab to the account page. So you can start updating your sites and use individual API keys for each website.
License and Subscriptions
Since the very beginning, YOOtheme had a "split license" model, which was very common for Joomla themes and extensions. WordPress, on the other hand, encourages all developers to license their software under the GPL including all asset files. For that reason, becoming 100% GPL has been on our to-do list for a long time. Our website relaunch is the perfect opportunity to finally change the license completely to GPL.
Instead of site licenses, the subscriptions now include update licenses. This means you can now only update our products on as many websites as your subscription allows. Just as before, the updates are only available to customers with an active subscription.
To add more value for developers, our Developer subscription now gives you access to both WordPress and Joomla themes. This also applies to all current active Developer subscriptions. Additionally, there will be more extra features available for developers soon.
What's Next?
We continue working on our website and our products to make your experience better. More releases are coming soon. YOOtheme Pro 1.13 is planned for tomorrow, and the new theme will be ready at the beginning of the next week.
