Today we are excited to present Kitchen Daily – our new YOOtheme Pro theme package for WordPress and Joomla. It's perfect for a cooking website where you can publish your recipes, share your cooking videos and post your daily tips and inspirations. We've added some modern page layouts, great looking styles and a well-thought-out content structure, so you can get your cooking website started in no time. Let's go!

Page Layouts

Kitchen Daily comes with 9 different layouts. They can easily be loaded from the layout library with just a click. Here is a walk-through of all the highlights.

Page	Type	Description
Home	Page	The Home page teases the latest and most popular recipes, posts and videos. It starts with a fully responsive hero slider presenting featured recipes. There are freely arranged images in the background with a slight parallax effect. Featured posts are shown in full sections. The great thing here, they tease recipes related to their topic. There is also a nice-looking call to action section to buy a cooking book and a newsletter signup at the end of the layout.
Recipes	Page	The Recipes page displays all main categories and their latest recipes. Recipes are presented in a five-column layout across all pages.
Recipe Category	Template	Category pages additionally show a navigation for their subcategories.
Recipe Post	Template	The Recipe page itself gives a quick introduction of the recipe including cooking time, difficulty and a how-to video. The method and ingredients follow side by side with additional menu recommendations and similar recipes.
Videos	Page	A dedicated Videos page for the YouTube channel shows the latest and most popular videos in a lightbox. The page ends with social media links and a call to action section.
About	Page	The About page shows the information about the author and the contact details.
Journal	Template	There is a Journal page that displays daily tips and inspirations in a three-column layout. It has a decorative typography which spins on scrolling.
Post	Template	And finally, the Post page starts with a full width hero image followed by a three-column layout. The title, author and the published date are well-arranged in the sidebar to the left. Recipes related to the blog post are shown in the sidebar to the right and latest posts appear at bottom of the page.

With all these layouts Kitchen Daily has everything a cooking website needs. Let's move on to the style.

Style

Kitchen Daily has a flat style with a subtle material touch thanks to the slight box shadows on its default buttons and cards. The combination of bold primary and secondary colors together with sharp edges, thin modern typography with a sans-serif font give the website a colorful but classy look.

In addition to the default style Kitchen Daily comes with 5 other style variations, each with a different beautiful color scheme. There is a green, orange, blue, darkgreen and red style. They all have a white background with bold primary and secondary colors. You can switch the whole look and feel and give some color to your website with just a click. Simply choose what fits your website best!

Handcrafted Icons

We also designed illustrations specifically for Kitchen Daily. They are used to show the difficulty of the recipe as well as the cooking time, which really is a must-have for any recipe website. Of course, you can change their color and use them with any style.

Let's go over a more technical aspect of the theme package.

Content Types and Custom Fields

Kitchen Daily comes with a fully functional demo website that loads its content dynamically into the page layouts. To achieve this we've created a well-thought-out content structure with three content types: Post, Recipe and Video. In Joomla these content types are created by assigning custom fields to root categories, while in WordPress we use custom post types which have their own custom fields.

Recipes

Recipes are organized in a two-level category hierarchy. The main categories sort the recipes into different meals, while the sub categories further divide them by food types. Recipe categories have 4 custom fields used in a hero section and to tease them on other pages.

Altogether there are 130+ recipes. The Recipe content type has 16 custom fields. This includes fields to tease the recipe, different cooking times, difficulty, servings, ingredients and method as well as fields for an optional how-to video and related recipes.

The Video content type has 4 custom fields for the video URL, length and poster.

Journal

Journal has no additional custom fields. However, in Joomla we added two custom fields for the user grouped under Author field group. In WordPress the default profile picture is used.

The Joomla and WordPress demo websites make use of several 3rd party plugins. We support Advanced Custom Fields, Toolset, Custom Post Type UI, WordPress Popular Posts, the Regular Labs Articles Field and more.
